Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has joked Andy Lonergan 'used to be a legend' after his former goalkeeper joined neighbours Everton.
The 38-year-old was with Liverpool during the 2019/20 Premier League-winning season and picked up UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup medals despite never playing a game.
After short spells with Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion last season – turning out just once for the former – Lonergan was picked up by Rafa Benitez.
Lonergan serves as third choice behind Jordan Pickford and Bosnian international Asmir Begovic at Goodison Park.
Speaking to Simon Crabtree at Preston North End, Klopp name-checked the Preston-born stopper who played 231 games for his home city club.

Klopp said: “We had, from my point of view, a 100% Preston North End legend here with Andy Lonergan.
“He won with us pretty much everything, we loved him!
“But now I think he is at Everton … so he was a legend, he used to be a legend.”
