Jurgen Klopp breaks Pep Guardiola's record as Liverpool manager scoops top award

Jurgen Klopp has made history after he was named the Premier League Manager of the Month for January.

The German coach, who guided his side to six wins during the opening weeks of 2020, has now won the accolade five times this season.

This latest prize sees Klopp break the record previously set by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola for the most awards won in a single season.

The Liverpool boss was named the manager of the month for August, September, November and December, with Chelsea's Frank Lampard having scooped the award in October.

It is the eighth time Klopp has scooped the award in total which moves him level with Martin O'Neill and Harry Redknapp.

The Reds enjoyed six incredible wins during January which included crucial victories against over Tottenham and Manchester United.

Klopp's Liverpool are currently 22 points ahead of nearest placed rivals Man City in the race for the Premier League title.
