Jurgen Klopp blamed as Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher hilariously 'translates' Robert Lewandowski

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher had his fellow pundits in stitches after he kept them guessing when pretending to translate a Polish interview with Robert Lewandowski following Bayern Munich’s 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

Although the 32-year-old striker did not add to his incredible 55-goal haul (in 47 games) in all competitions this season, the win culminated an incredible campaign for himself and his team-mates having also captured the club’s eighth consecutive Bundesliga title and DFB-Pokal (German FA Cup) under the stewardship of rookie head coach Hansi Flick who only took charge in November.

Following the game, CBS Sports who Carragher was working for as a pundit had an interview with Lewandowski in his native Polish tongue which host Kate Abdo handed over to the ex-Reds defender to decipher.

She said: “I’m hearing that you actually learned Polish at school Jamie.”

Carragher replied: “I took Polish, I didn’t learn it!”

Nevertheless the clip was played and with Abdo declaring: “Here we go, Robert Lewandowski everyone, let’s hear him.”

Despite being put on the spot, Bootle-born Carragher kept his cool to deliver what at first seemed some plausible remarks.

He started by relaying that Lewandowski was describing it as “the best feeling of his life” and “I can’t believe it’s happened after losing the last final against Bayern (with former club Borussia Dortmund at Wembley in 2013) and this time he’s won it.”

From that point, despite keeping a straight face and deadpan delivery, Carragher’s ‘translations’ became ever more outrageous.

Carrying on the reflections of Lewandowski losing his last Champions League final seven years ago, Carragher declared: “He blames Klopp for that!”

Perhaps sensing that the deception was still working, the 42-year old added: “He’s disappointed he never got on the scoresheet, he felt that might have got him maybe the Ballon d’Or, something that he’d missed out on.”

However, with former Everton manager and current Belgium coach Roberto Martinez alongside him in the studio, Carragher delivered a parting shot as he claimed Lewandowski concluded with: “And I think this proves that I am the best number nine and not Lukaku!” a ‘translation’ that made the ex-Blues boss, and in turn Abdo, to laugh out loud.

With all now realising that the game was finally up, Martinez responded: “He was convincing up to that point!”
