Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards will have to move fast to secure Liverpool transfers this summer

Jurgen Klopp is gearing up for what could be the biggest day of his reign as Liverpool manager on Sunday.

The Reds host Wolves in their final game of the season knowing that victory will land a first league title in nearly three decades, provided Manchester City fail to beat Brighton at the AMEX.

Should the Reds manage to edge out their title rivals with a 97-point haul and lift their first championship since 1990, Merseyside will come to a standstill.

Reds supporters across the world will rejoice over what will be one of the finest days in the club's long and decorated history.

However, despite plans for an open-top bus parade across the city on Monday, Klopp won't be afforded a chance to bask for too long with a Champions League final on the horizon.

Neither will sporting director Michael Edwards, who will be tasked with rebuilding and reshaping the Liverpool squad ahead of the new season.

Edwards will be jolted into action by the transfer window opening earlier than previous years as the Reds get set for what is expected to be a somewhat subdued period.

Last season, the Reds forked out around £170million to bring to Naby Keita, Alisson Becker, Xherdan Shaqiri and Fabinho to the club.

This time around, it is anticipated the Reds will oversee a quieter summer, at least on the incoming front.

Here's all you need to know ahead of the 2019 transfer window.

When does the summer transfer window open?

The 2019 summer transfer window opens at midnight on Thursday, May 16 . Four days from now.

When is deadline day for the summer transfer window?

This is how Liverpool's Champions League final preparations could shape up

All clubs have until 5pm on Thursday, August 8, 2019 to complete any transfer dealings, with the Premier League again imposing a pre-season deadline which first came into play last term.

Top-flight clubs last year voted for the window to 'slam shut' on August 9 ahead of the curtain-raiser between Leicester and Manchester United a day later.

It gave clubs an official trading window between June 9 and August 9 - but this year's is set to be slightly longer with no World Cup distractions getting in the way for the wheelers and dealers of the Premier League.

Who will Liverpool be in the market for?

That is the million-dollar question, presently.

Liverpool could feasibly enter into next season as either Premier League or European champions - and could even kick off in August as double winners.

As such, Klopp will be somewhat preoccupied with chasing history rather than tweaking his squad for next season. Understandable.

The 18-time league winners, as they always are, have been linked with a string of players including Matthijs De Ligt, Joao Felix, Paulo Dybala and Nabil Fekir.

Each and everyone of those aforementioned players would set the Reds back a fair old whack in the market however and such a splurge is not expected to be forthcoming this window.

As reported back in March , the ECHO understands that Liverpool won't be spending huge amounts in the upcoming transfer window, with Reds boss Klopp more than happy with the bulk of his squad.

The Reds will be in the market to fine tune ahead of the new season, but a relatively modest outlay is anticipated after paying out close to £250m since January 2018.

Who could be on the move?

Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge are expected to bid farewell to Anfield on Sunday. The pair are both coming to the end of their respective contracts at the club.

Simon Mignolet is likely to seek pastures new, while Divock Origi's long-term future remains unclear - despite the smattering of heroics he has served up this term.
