Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool are 'desperate to get back to normality'

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted he is beginning to miss his squad as the lockdown amid the coronavirus crisis continues.

The Reds have not played since their Champions League last-16 defeat to Atletico Madrid on March 11, with Klopp leading virtual training sessions via Zoom every day.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the German admitted the self-isolating was beginning to take its toll, but called for patience.

"It's getting longer for all of us personally," he said. "We are getting desperate at one point to get back to normality. But as far as I'm concerned for us here it's good, but we are all just in a crazy place and we have to be patient.

When asked what he was missing most, Klopp added: "My life didn't change too much to be honest, I can't usually go out, my private life if I can go to Melwood for 8, 9, 10 hours then it will be the same because at home it's always the same we don't go in restaurants and things like this, so it's not changed too much.

"But of course I miss, the boys miss football. I miss for everybody else that they can have their normal life, so it's not important how I feel because I get used to the lockdown, private lockdown if you want. But I can imagine for the people out there it’s much more difficult."

The Reds were on the verge of their first top flight title since 1990 when football was suspended, and it remains to be seen how the current campaign is concluded, with Premier League clubs expected to hold another meeting next week to continue discussions.

Liverpool will no doubt be desperate to finish the season, even if they have to do so behind closed doors, and it will come as a bitter blow if they are denied the title.
