Jurgen Klopp admits Joel Matip is "not too good" after he came off injured in Liverpool's draw with West Brom.
The Cameroon international immediately sounded to the bench when he felt some discomfort in his leg on the hour mark and was taken off.
Matip has had injury problems throughout his career and his latest set back is another blow for the Reds boss.
"Joel felt something in his adductor," Klopp said after watching his side drop two points.
"Not too good, not sure how serious right now. The rest I will get tomorrow."
Liverpool have been hit with several injuries this term and the bulk of those have affected their defensive options.
Virgil van Dijk was injured back in the Merseyside derby and could be out for the season while Joe Gomez sustained a long-term injury while with England.
It has left Klopp to seek answers with Fabinho dropping from midfield back into defence.
Matip has been the only regular centre-half available for Liverpool which has seen youngster Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips both get opportunities.
One of them may again be called upon if Matip's injury does turn out to be a lengthy problem.
Jamie Carragher confessed after the Anfield stalemate that, as Liverpool attempt to retain their title, a defensive injury crisis looks like being the only thing that can stop them.
He said: "It's a massive worry but it's not a new worry. Joel Matip will not play every game between now and the end of the season.
"You know that even before the injury today and that's why it's paramount Liverpool sign someone in January. I said that as soon as Virgil van Dijk has his injury against Everton.
"I still believe Liverpool are the best team in this league, even without Van Dijk, and I think most people would say they're favourites to win the league.
"I think the only way they don't win it is if they have problems at centre-back where Rhys Williams or Nat Phillips have to play for a prolonged period of time."
