Jurgen Klopp admits Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain injury has cast a 'big shadow' over Liverpool's Club World Cup win

Jurgen Klopp admits injury to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has cast “a big shadow” on Liverpool's historic FIFA Club World Cup win.

The Reds became world champions for the first time with a 1-0 win over Flamengo here in the final in Doha on Saturday evening.

Oxlade-Chamberlain started in midfield but was forced off 15 minutes from the end of normal time after appearing to twist his ankle when landing awkwardly after a challenge.

The England international left the Khalifa International Stadium on crutches and with his right foot in a protective boot.

He will undergo scans when Liverpool arrive back in Merseyside on Sunday.

And Klopp said: “I spoke to him. He showed me the video (of the incident). When he landed, he got a kick and rolled over on it.

“He feels okay, of course it's far from being perfect, but we have to see if it's a stretch ligament or partly ruptured or ruptured.

“It's a big shadow on tonight.”
