Jurgen Klopp addresses Gini Wijnaldum's future as Liverpool face Diogo Jota problem

Jurgen Klopp addresses Gini Wijnaldum’s future

Jurgen Klopp remained tight-lipped over the future of Georginio Wijnaldum ahead of what could be his final game in a Liverpool shirt.

But the German is in no doubt that the Dutchman is still 'completely committed' to the Reds' cause despite his uncertain contract situation.

With the five-year deal he signed upon arriving from Newcastle United in 2016 set to expire at the end of the season, Wijnaldum is expected to depart Anfield on a free transfer this summer.

Talks over an extension were shelved months ago, and the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona have been linked with a swoop for the Netherlands international.

But, rather than set up an emotional farewell for Wijnaldum against Crystal Palace on Sunday, Klopp refused to give anything away about his next move.

He said: "Well there is, in the moment, nothing really to say about [it] because we have a game to play.

"We will see about all these things Sunday or the time after that. Nothing else to say."

Diogo Jota conundrum

Liverpool remain in control of their Champions League qualification destiny after a hard-earned win at Burnley on Wednesday.

Roberto Firmino, Nat Phillips and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all scored as the Reds ultimately eased to a 3-0 triumph at Turf Moor.

The outgoing champions now have a quick turnaround as they prepare for the final game of the season at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

There was a surprise selection boost on Tuesday with Klopp revealing there is an outside chance Diogo Jota could be fit for Palace.

It would be a big ask, though, for the Portuguese to come into the starting line-up.

Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah have all scored in the last three games, and will be expected to retain their starting berths in what is likely to be a must-win game in terms of Champions League qualification.

Xherdan Shaqiri, who came on at West Brom, and Divock Origi are also likely to be available.
