Jurassic World Rebirth release date, cast, story, and everything else you need to know

Jonathan Bailey and Scarlett Johansson in Jurassic World Rebirth.

Jurassic World is roaring back onto screens very soon with Jurassic World Rebirth. Coming three years after Dominion bid farewell to the original cast, Rebirth will, well, rebirth the franchise, with newcomers played by Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, and Rupert Friend.

It's an excellent time for dinosaur fans, as there has been a ton of information about one of the most anticipated upcoming movies hitting the big screen in 2025. Not only have we had a ton of casting updates and some footage screened behind closed doors at CinemaCon, but we also have a lengthy new trailer with a ton of bite. It truly looks like Jurassic World Rebirth has all the makings to be among our list of the best action movies in the future.

So, if you are excited as we are about returning to everyone's favourite deadly island, then read on below for everything that you need to know about Jurassic World Rebirth. From its release date, cast, trailer, and all the latest plot details, we've gathered so much information that even those scientists mucking about with ancient DNA would be impressed.

The Jurassic World Rebirth release date is July 2, 2025. That means it's only a few more months to wait to see the new dinosaur movie – and it's just three years since Jurassic World Dominion, too.

This is great news considering many of us thought that Jurassic World Dominion would be the swan song of the World chapters in the franchise. Luckily, the dinos are back, and with multiple teasers now out in the wild, it seems like our release date isn't in any danger of being moved or delayed either. Exciting times!

Jurassic World Rebirth trailer

There have been plenty of Jurassic World Rebirth trailers. However, the latest teaser dropped on May 20, 2025, and is just over two minutes long, making it one of the most in-depth looks that we've had for the upcoming movie so far.

In the trailer, which you can watch above, we're introduced to Zora (Scarlett Johansson), who embarks on a dangerous mission alongside paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey) and ship captain Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali). The trio encounters a group of lethal dinosaurs that were deemed "too dangerous for the original park."

The clip is filled with action and near-death scenes. A few standout moments, though, are a dino chase involving some rapids, a mutated creature grabbing a scientist, and a terrifying lagoon scene taken from the original novel.

Jurassic World Rebirth plot

Not much is known about the plot of Jurassic World Rebirth at the moment. According to Entertainment Weekly, though, the story picks up five years after Dominion and sees the dinosaurs dying out again as the planet is inhospitable to them, aside from those living in a few tropical areas. Three of these surviving dinosaurs have genetic material that could be used by a pharmaceutical company in the development of a life-saving drug. Zora (Scarlett Johansson) is sent to extract this material, accompanied by ship captain Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali), and paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey).

To complicate things, the Delgado family, a bunch of civilians, will also be involved after their boat capsizes and puts out a mayday call picked up by Zora's team.

"Obviously, it all goes wrong and becomes a situation that you enjoy watching as a Jurassic fan," director Gareth Edwards told the publication. “Once you're on the adventure, the film doesn't let go until the end credits. The enjoyment of it is in the moment-to-moment chase, escape, scare, horror, curve balls in the whole plotting of the set pieces and the dinosaur moments."

Writer David Koepp revealed in an interview in January 2025 they're bringing back a scene from the original novel in the new movie. The moment was originally planned for 1993's Jurassic Park, but it was cut because they ran out of room in the classic film.

"I reread the two novels to get myself back in that mode though. We did take some things from them. There was a sequence from the first novel that we’d always wanted in the original movie, but didn’t have room for. We were like, 'Hey, we get to use that now.' But just to get back in that head space 30 years later – is it still fun? And the answer is yes, it still really is. Dinosaurs are still fun," he explained.

Jurassic World Rebirth cast

Jurassic World Rebirth has a new hero at its centre as Chris Pratt says goodbye to the franchise. Instead of us following the adventures of Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire Dearing, Scarlett Johansson will be taking over the reins as Zora Bennett.

Most of the cast are new faces. One of the biggest names joining the fold is Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kinkaid. We are sure that there may be some surprise appearances as well, and maybe some shocking legacy cameos again (just like in Dominion). So, stay tuned for updates.

Below is the Jurassic World Rebirth cast list:

  • Scarlett Johansson – Zora Bennett
  • Jonathan Bailey – Dr. Henry Loomis
  • Mahershala Ali – Duncan Kinkaid
  • Rupert Friend – Martin Krebs
  • Manuel Garcia-Rulfo – Reuben Delgado
  • Luna Blaise – Reuben's daughter
  • David Iacono – Reuben's son
  • Audrina Miranda – Reuben's youngest daughter
  • Philippine Velge – TBC
  • Bechir Sylvain – TBC
  • Ed Skrein – TBC
