"Jurassic World Evolution 3" is now staying away from the use of generative AI in the game, particularly in the title's scientists' portraits, which featured AI-made content in the preview. The developers from Frontier Developments were quick to pull back on their use of AI-generated content for the game as they received a significant backlash from fans.
The much-anticipated sequel game to the series was initially met with enthusiasm, but because of the AI-generated content discovery in the game, fans were quick to turn against its developers for their choices.
'Jurassic World Evolution 3' Devs Ditch AI Use
Frontier Developments has issued a statement saying that they will no longer display the generative AI used to create the scientists' portraits in the game in response to the backlash they faced earlier this month. The developers working on "Jurassic World Evolution 3" said that they "have opted to remove the use of generative AI" on that specific part of the game, taking the criticisms as feedback from the community.
It all started after their much-awaited showcase during the Summer Game Fest 2025 earlier this month where their trailer showed off a scene featuring the portraits of scientists that many speculated to be AI-generated.
While this is only a small part of the game, fans have pointed out that generative AI content should not be part of the title, with many calling out Frontier Developments in different social media platforms and online forums.
This was later confirmed by a requirement by Valve's Steam for developers to disclose if their game was made with help from generative AI, further confirming the questions raised by gamers.
AI Content in Games Face Massive Backlash
According to ComicBook Gaming, various forums where fans expressed their dismay on Frontier Developments's decision to include generative AI content already saw fans lose enthusiasm for the title. Some fans went as far as to call Frontier Developments with various names such as "lazy" and "pathetic" for their decision to utilize generative AI for the said portraits.
That being said, it has not been confirmed how big of a role the said scientists get in the game, especially as it got the fanbase riled up in their recent showcase. Still, "Jurassic World Evolution" is a beloved gaming franchise since its first release in 2018.
Frontier Developments' latest installment is set to bring a bigger experience to gamers in creating habitat for the different kinds of dinosaurs, with the devs promising more to enjoy come October 21. The construction and management simulation game is now available to pre-order on Steam and other platforms' storefronts.
