'Jurassic World' breaks into top 10 all-time best earners in China

June 25--REPORTING FROM BEIJING -- After its first 12 days in theaters, "Jurassic World" moved into the top 10 movies of all time in China and has become the third-highest grossing film of the year.

The fourth installment in the Universal Pictures dinosaur franchise, which opened June 10, earned nearly $165 million through Sunday, figures from film industry consulting firm Artisan Gateway showed.

Six of the top 10 films of all time in the mainland are Hollywood tentpoles, including three released this year: "Furious 7," at No. 1; "Avengers: Age of Ultron" at No. 3; and "Jurassic World" at No. 10.

Last year's hit "Transformers: Age of Extinction" remains at No. 2 on the all-time box office list, while "Avatar" -- the first film to cross $200 million in China -- is holding onto No. 4. The third "Transformers" film is ranked No. 8.

"A Time for Consequences," by Hong Kong director Soi Cheang, arrived in theaters June 18 and made $43.4 million in four days. The action flick stars Jacky Wu, whose last movie, "Wolf Warriors," earned $87.9 million, Artisan said.

Warner Bros. "San Andreas" is nearing the end of its run, with nearly $93.5 million.

Opening in fourth place was Summit Entertainment's "Insurgent," with about $9 million in tickets sold, followed by the local production "The Ark of Mr. Chow," which earned almost $5 million.

China's year-to-date box office take stands at $3.1 billion.
