Junior Shield opening round postponed due to Covid-19 concerns

The first round of this season's ToalsBet.com Junior Shield has been postponed.

The Co Antrim FA said concerns over Covid-19 had prompted their decision to delay the start of the competition.

The first round of the Junior Shield was scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 31.

With rising concerns over the spread of coronavrus in Northern Ireland, it remains unclear how any potential new restrictions could impact on sport here.

"The Co Antrim FA Junior Shield Committee have determined that that the opening round of the 20/21 ToalsBet.Com Junior Shield competition is postponed," read a statement.

"Round 1 was due to take place on Saturday 31 October. The Committee have made the decision due to concerns relating to Covid 19.

"The Committee will review the decision on the week commencing 26 October. An update will be provided to all clubs in due course."
