Junior Firpo will make 'a world of difference' to Leeds United ahead of Tottenham Hotspur clash

Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills believes it will be 'crucial' to have Junior Firpo back available after missing the last five matches through injury.

The Whites head to Tottenham Hotspur this weekend and the left-back could be fit for selection after being seen back in the group on the training video clip released by the club.

It has been a mixed start to the season for Marcelo Bielsa's side, but will looking to extend their unbeaten run to four games after a recent up-turn in form.

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte is searching for his first Premier League victory as Tottenham boss and will be keen to collect an important three points heading into a hectic stage of the campaign.

However, Firpo's potential return would give Leeds a boost in their pursuit of a positive result as Stuart Dallas has had to fill in at full-back in his absence.

This would allow the Northern Irishman to shift into midfield and Mills has claimed that having 'balance' across the pitch is vital to a successful team.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: "It’s all about balance, that’s the most important thing.

"To have a left-footed player on the left-hand side makes a world of difference and is vitally important.

"Having your strongest players back is crucial."

A win for the Whites could lift them further away from the relegation zone and Firpo's re-introduction into the team would hand them a huge boost.

The 25-year-old has made eight appearances in a Leeds shift since joining from Barcelona for £12.8m in the summer, penning a five-year deal at Elland Road.

Leeds don't have another natural senior left-footed left-back in the squad and have had to call upon Pascal Struijk and Dallas to play there after Ezgjan Alioski departed in the previous transfer window.
