Junior Cup Committee set to discuss 'issue' relating to Bessbrook Utd vs Enniskillen Rangers semi-final

The Irish FA has confirmed that a meeting will take place on Wednesday night to discuss "an issue" surrounding one of last week's Junior Cup semi-finals.

Bessbrook United beat holders Enniskillen Rangers 3-1 last Monday, April 1 to book their place in next month's showpiece decider.

Rangers were bidding to reach their third successive final, but Ben Treanor’s County Armagh men claimed the win to progress to the final.

Belfast Live Sport understands a complaint has been raised by Fermanagh club Enniskillen Rangers regarding an alleged player eligibility issue.

The IFA said in a statement: "I can confirm the Junior Cup Committee is meeting tonight to discuss an issue in relation to the Bessbrook United v Enniskillen Rangers Junior Cup semi-final tie."

Meanwhile, it was also confirmed on Wednesday that Queen's University have lodged a complaint following their Match Intermediate Cup semi-final defeat to Portstewart.

It is understood the complaint alleges that an ineligible player featured in the game.

A hearing is expected to be held on Thursday evening at Windsor Park.
