Junior Cert results finally out after lengthy delay

Junior Cert results are finally out today following a lengthy delay to their standard release.

The annual examinations took place this June for the first time since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. The results are typically issued in September, but this was delayed due to examiner shortages and the prioritisation of Leaving Cert exams.

Students will be able to collect their results from their schools this morning. Alternatively, exam grades will be issued online by the SEC from 4pm this afternoon.

However, pupils who are unsatisfied with their grades can appeal the mark up until November 30. The appeals process takes place directly through schools until this date.

The setback on results affected almost 70,000 students, the first cohort to sit the exams since 2019. Minister for Education Norma Foley previously admitted that the Department hopes to avoid a similar scenario taking place next year.
