Junior Agogo: Former Hibs and Ghana striker dies at the age of 40

Former Hibs striker Junior Agogo has sadly passed away at the age of 40.

The former Ghana international suffered a stroke in 2015 which resulted in him being unable to read or write.

And GhanaWeb now reports that the ex-Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Zamalek forward has died.

Agogo signed a one-year deal at Easter Road in July 2011 after a brief trial period under Colin Calderwood.

He made 14 appearances in green and white, scoring once in a 3-3 draw with Dundee United in September the same year.

His stay at the Hibees was cut short after Pat Fenlon replaced Calderwood as manager.

Hibs were Agogo’s last professional club.

Agogo’s finest moment came on the international stage, scoring in the 2008 African Cup of Nations quarter-final against Nigeria., playing alongside then Hearts player Laryea Kingston for the Black Stars.
