Juninho Bacuna's first Rangers words as Ibrox new boy reveals long term interest

Juninho Bacuna has revealed he kept a close eye on Rangers last season after a move to join the club last summer fell through.

The midfielder joined on at Rangers earlier today and is at Ibrox for the game against Alashkert in the Europa League.

And he's revealed he could have been part of the Rangers squad that won the league last season after Steven Gerrard attempted to sign him last summer too.

That move didn't go through but the Curacao international has revealed he kept a close eye on the Ibrox side throughout the season after that.

He'll now have a chance of imposing himself in the team and he reckons that his best years can be at Ibrox becuase of the style of football Rangers play.

He told RangersTV: "Rangers is a big club with a lot of history. Knowing there was interest from last season but unfortunately it didn’t go through.

"I kept an eye on Rangers last season and they became champions. It’s nice to be part of it now.

"It’s great that a team like Rangers is interested in you, especially after becoming champion.

"It means a lot and I’m ready to start going and improve myself, learn from the boys, learn from the manager and like I said I’m ready to get started and can’t wait to be in here."

Bacuna's move to Huddersfield never quite worked and he admits that is disappointing, but he's now got 'hunger' to improve and reckons he'll have a good career in Glasgow.

He added: "I’ve got experience in the Premier League. It didn’t go as I wanted, but that experience I will bring over here and show what I can do.

"I see the players like to play football and be around the ball and make combinations. I think it’ll suit me and I can’t wait to do it.

"I’m 24 and I’m hungry to play. With this style the team is going to play it’ll suit me and I think I can be at my best here."
