Juninho Bacuna has revealed he's been watching Rangers with a keen eye for the past year.

The newest Ibrox recruit has told how a move to Glasgow didn't quite materialise last summer but he's now agreed a permanent transfer from Huddersfield Town.

Bacuna's arrival was announced prior to Rangers kicking off against Alashkert in the Europa League play-off round, with the 24-year-old in the house to get a closer look at this new team-mates.

But he's already familiar with Steven Gerrard 's side having watched their road to becoming Premiership champions from afar.

And now the Dutch-born Curacao international can't wait to get started.

He told Rangers TV: "I can't imagine how it's going to be. From what I've heard it'll be incredible. The fans are going to be on to it, they want to see passion from the team.

"I can't wait to meet them.

"Rangers is a big club with a lot of history. Knowing the big interest from last season - unfortunately it didn't go through - I kept my on Rangers last season.

"They became champions. It's nice and positive.

"It's great that a team like Rangers was interested in me, especially after becoming champions.

"To be part of it is nice, it means a lot. I'm ready to get going and improve myself, learn from the boys and the manager.

"I'm ready to get started and I can't wait."

Rangers boss Gerrard is thrilled to get Bacuna on board - admitting he's "really excited" by his capture.

He said: “He can bring a lot of things. He’s a really big talent, a fantastic footballer at a fantastic age as well.

“He hasn’t played much of late so it’s important we’re patient with him and try and get him up to speed in a safe way.

“But I’m really excited about this one. There’s still much more to come in my opinion. We’ll put the right support around him to she can continue to develop in his career but I’m sure he’ll come in and contribute really well and then and the fans should be really excited about this one.”
