You can still celebrate July 4th on Navy Pier this year — but you won’t see any fireworks.

The Chicago landmark will celebrate Independence Day this year with live music, outdoor dining and cruises on Lake Michigan. Festivities will take place from 10 a.m. to midnight.

In accordance with Phase 4 of Chicago’s reopening plan, visitors will be required to wear face masks and maintain their distance from others, Navy Pier said Wednesday. They will also be encouraged to wash their hands frequently, and make use of nearly 80 hand sanitizer dispensers posted all over the pier.

Restaurants Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Harry Caray’s Tavern, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, Offshore, Riva Crabhouse and Tiny Tavern will be open for outdoor eating, and counter service will be available at America’s Dog & Burger, Billy Goat Tavern, Completely Nuts, Dippin’ Dots and McDonald’s.

As for the music, Navy Pier said various bands and a live DJ will be playing throughout the day.

“Future fireworks shows are still under consideration,” a Navy Pier spokeswoman said. The pier previously placed all large-scale events on hold and is reopening in phases, “in line with the city’s ongoing plan to cautiously reopen Chicago.”
