Julius Czapla: First pictures emerge of tragic Edinburgh toddler who died at flat in Muirhouse

The first pictures of a two-year-old who tragically passed away over the weekend in an Edinburgh flat have emerged.

Police and the emergency services were called to Muirhouse West Place at around 9.30am where they found Julius Czapla seriously injured.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and a 40-year-old man was arrested in connection with his death. He will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Pictures of the toddler have now been left amongst floral tributes near his home by heartbroken friends, loved ones and neighbours, reports the Daily Record.

Tributes poured in for the two year old from locals, with one person saying: "The thoughts we have of 'if only we knew, we could've helped'. Fly high little angel. Rest in peace.”

Another added: “So sad another wee angel taken before his time.”

“Such a tragic thing to happen, poor baby. Our thoughts are with everyone who is dealing with this terrible thing,"added another.

“Horrific - and heartbreaking. Poor wee mite. Really feel for the emergency services who attended as well as the wee soul's family. Terribly sad," one local penned.

Chief Inspector David Happs, from Drylaw Police Station, said: "Around 9.30am on Saturday, 21 November, 2020, officers and emergency services were called to an address in the Muirhouse area of Edinburgh where a two-year-old child was found seriously injured.

"He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later."
