& Juliet musical trailer: First look at performance footage of new pop music show

New performance footage of & Juliet shows Shakespeare’s tragic heroine taking back the reins to the sounds of Backstreet Boys.

A trailer has been released for the musical, based on the back-catalogue of pop songwriter Max Martin, which opens in the West End on November 20.

It sees Juliet change her mind about taking her own life and instead setting off to Paris with her friends to write her own story, with help from songs such as Britney’s Baby One More Time and Kary Perry’s Roar.

Miriam-Teak Lee is in the lead as Juliet, with Oliver Tompsett as Shakespeare and Jordan Luke Gage as Romeo. Cassidy Janson, Arun Blair-Mangat, Melanie La Barrie and Tim Mahendran are also in the core cast.

Luke Sheppard directs, with a book by David West Read, choreography by Jennifer Weber, set design by Soutra Gilmour, costume design by Paloma Young, sound by Gareth Owen, lighting by Howard Hudson and musical arrangements by Bill Sherman and Dominic Fallacaro.

& Juliet is booking until March 2020 at Shaftesbury Theatre
