Julian Weigl has already given his verdict on Thomas Tuchel amid transfer links with Chelsea.
The Blues have been linked with a move for the defensive midfielder ahead of this summer with a fee of around £25.8million mooted, the price tag reportedly set by Benfica.
Benfica only paid £17.2million for Weigl in 2020, but reports claim they may be open to a quick profit should a club come in with a bid of £25.8million or more.
It's rumoured Chelsea could be one of those clubs, potentially seeing Weigl as a much cheaper alternative to West Ham and England star Declan Rice, who is thought to be valued at around £100million.
And the move might just make sense given Tuchel has already worked with Weigl during the pair's time at Borussia Dortmund.
Tuchel and Weigl spent two years together in the Bundesliga, and the midfielder saw plenty of game time under the now Chelsea boss before seeing his minutes reduce significantly after his exit.
And since then, Weigl has since made it clear he would be open to work with Tuchel again, saying during his time at Dortmund in 2019: "When PSG showed interest in me before the second half of the season, I naturally thought about my future.
“I wanted to improve my sporting situation, and people know I can work well under Thomas Tuchel. It’s no secret.”
These quotes were from 2019 and Weigl has since moved to Benfica, but with the Portuguese side now appearing open to a possible deal, Weigl may just get his opportunity to work with Tuchel again.
Weigl is still only 25 years of age, and is coming off the back of a 43-game season, playing a significant part as Benfica finished third in Primeira Liga.
