Julian Speroni sends an emotional message to the Crystal Palace fans ahead of summer exit

Julian Speroni has opened up on what playing for Crystal Palace has meant to him as he prepares to say goodbye to the club.

The popular Argentine is set to leave the club at the end of the season, with the club confirming yesterday (Thursday) that the 39-year-old will be departing after almost 15 years with the Eagles .

And the club legend has sent a message to the supporters ahead of the final game of the season against Bournemouth on Sunday, when he is set to say farewell to the fans in what is likely to be an emotional send-off.

'Julian Speroni is Mr Crystal Palace - and the club will not be the same without him'

In an open letter on the club website, he said: "It is impossible to express in just a few lines just what the past 15 years has meant to me.

"I would like to the thank the owners, players and staff both past and present who shared the journey with me and most of all the fans who have been there every step of the way.

"It has been an honour and a privilege to play for this great football club and I hope I represented you in a way that demonstrated the tremendous pride I felt every time I pulled on the number one jersey.

'What is this club trying to do to me?' These Palace fans left reeling at the latest player exit

"We have shared so many great moments that will last with me forever. Both my family and I would like to thank each and every one of you, for the love and kindness that has been extended to us during this time, in which we have built a long-standing bond that will remain unbroken forever. God bless you."
