Another Detroit Lions drat pick is signed, sealed and delivered. Third-round selection Julian Okwara has inked his rookie contract with the team, according to numerous reports.
Okwara is a pass-rushing EDGE from Notre Dame and the younger brother of Lions defensive end Romeo Okwara. The family tie should help ease Julian’s transition into Detroit.
Terms are not officially disclosed as of yet, but with the rookie salary scale in place there isn’t much wiggle room for Okwara. He is expected to compete for playing time on passing downs right away and help bolster the Lions’ anemic pass rush.
Okwara was in Detroit over the weekend to join his brother and many teammates and coaches at a peaceful protest on Belle Island.
