Stephon Gilmore was the only member of the New England Patriots to make the NFL Network’s Top 100 list. However, a Patriots wide receiver was close to joining him, landing just outside the list.
Julian Edelman was ranked No. 101 by his peers. Seventeen wide receivers were ranked ahead of Edelman. Some notable players in addition to Edelman were left off the list. They included Denver’s Justin Simmons and Baltimore’s Matt Judon.
When you consider what Edelman did last year, he could have made a compelling case to be on the list. He recorded 100 catches for 1,117 yards and six touchdown receptions.
Now, he hopes to build on those numbers in what should be a challenging 2020 season. New England will definitely need his veteran leadership at a position full of youth.
