Julian Edelman ‘selfishly’ wants Josh Gordon reinstated

Josh Gordon has earned the respect of many New England Patriots players.

Gordon has been dealing with issues off the field ever since he’s entered the NFL, but he’s always been respected by his peers. His timeline of substance abuse and suspensions is long-winded, and he is currently suspended indefinitely from the league.

Tom Brady has brought Gordon in ever since he was traded to New England, and has been going out of his way to mentor and help him grow as a person. Julian Edelman also has a soft spot for Gordon, and he spoke his mind about the situation on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” podcast.

“It’s a life situation and you’re pulling for him for that — to get better,” Edelman said. “And selfishly, I want him because he’s a really good football player and he can help us. I don’t know anything (regarding when/if he could get reinstated) going into it. Like, legit. Like, I’ve asked 30 people inside the organization and outside (the organization), like, ‘Do you know what’s going to happen?’ And no one knows not one thing. So we’re just kind of sitting and waiting to see what the circumstances are going to be with him because he’d be a really good tool to have. He balls.”

Whether or not Gordon will be reinstated is still unknown. But, he will continue to get support from Patriots players and staff.

He played in 11 games last season and finished with 40 receptions, 720 yards and three touchdowns. He was an instrumental part of the offense down the stretch, and his rare talent can change the dynamic of a game. If he were to play this season, he would potentially be alongside Edelman, Demaryius Thomas and N’Keal Harry.

Edelman and the rest of New England can only hope right now that they see Gordon again on the field.
