Julian Edelman is the NFL-leader in this unflattering statistic

Julian Edelman’s drop on Monday night led to a pick-six and the rapid unravelling of the New England Patriots in their 26-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. And unfortunately for Edelman and New England, the receiver’s drop is a part of a staggering trend. He’s leading the NFL in that category.

Edelman, the same man who made the circus catch in the Patriots’ Super Bowl comeback over the Falcons, has a league-high five drops this season on 27 targets. (It almost goes without saying: That’s a really bad ratio.) Edelman’s snaps are down in 2020, perhaps because he’s been limited in every practice so far this season with a knee injury.

Because of a career-best game in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks, his production isn’t suffering (18 catches, 294 yards). But perhaps he is suffering while playing through an injury.
