The mood around the New England Patriots seems to be a little lighter this year than in years past. Whether that’s because of the realization that expectations are a little lower than the last 20 years or the arrival of Cam Newton’s infectious attitude, the team feels like they’re embracing it.
Would it be expected of Patriots to be sharing unflattering photos of Bill Belichick on their social media pages just for the hilarity of it? That doesn’t feel like something that would’ve flown in New England five years ago. Edelman has discussed in the past that he’s “happily miserable” when playing, and that picture of Belichick perfectly encapsulates that feeling. The iconic press conference appearance of the coach won’t be forgotten anytime soon. This isn’t a disrespect thing because the wideout has already stated how he feels about the look.
Belichick probably won’t give Edelman any hard time in public because everyone knows he stays off of social media, but he knows what’s really going on. He’ll definitely get the last laugh in this battle.
