Julian Edelman credits Mohamed Sanu for being an ‘unbelievable teammate’

The New England Patriots made a season-changing acquisition after trading for Mohamed Sanu.

Sanu has been with the team for two games and he’s already racked up 12 receptions, 104 yards and a touchdown — with 19 targets. He’s earned Tom Brady’s trust already after getting targeted 14 times against the Baltimore Ravens, and it’s not a surprise to anyone. Sanu fit in right away after joining New England and he couldn’t hold back the excitement.

Entering New England’s offensive huddle mid-season is a tough transition for skilled players because the playbook is so complex. Not only did Sanu take on that challenge — he also reached out and began mentoring rookie receiver N’Keal Harry in the process.

Julian Edelman spoke about having Sanu on his team during his weekly interview on WEEI’s ‘The Greg Hill Show’.

“I’ll tell you right now, MoMo’s an unbelievable teammate,” Edelman said, transcribed by NESN. “I didn’t even know about (him mentoring Harry), and it doesn’t surprise me that he was probably talking to N’Keal or whoever and probably giving them some great words of advice because he’s played a lot of football in this league as well. … He had a good game and he did a lot of great things for us out there and it’s good having him. It’s good adding a playmaker.”

The Patriots are heading into a bye week, which will give Sanu more time to learn the playbook and continue to build chemistry with his new team.
