Julian Draxler to announce his new club amid transfer talks with Arsenal

Julian Draxler will not be joining Arsenal in the January transfer window.

That's according to German outlet Bild, who have revealed that the Germany international has decided to fulfill his contract at Paris Saint-Germain and leave upon it's expiry at the end of the season.

However, in what could be a boost for Arsenal, the aforementioned report states that Draxler is planning to announce his new club in March.

But will his next club be the Gunners?

That remains to be seen, although earlier in the week 90Min claimed that the north London outfit were in talks with Draxler's representatives over a move to the Emirates Stadium.

It's not the first time Arsenal have been linked with the attacking midfielder. As recently as last summer's transfer window there was talk of him being included in a swap deal that would have taken Matteo Guendouzi back to France.

Of course, that didn't materialise and the latter ended up joining Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan deal, whilst Draxler stayed put and is now being coached by former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.

If the Gunners are interested in finally signing the 27-year-old they could face competition from fellow Premier League side Leeds United for his signature.

With that said, Draxler isn't the only playmaker on Mikel Arteta's radar.

Isco and Julian Brandt have both been linked, but talk of a move for the Real Madrid midfielder has cooled in recent weeks, while football.london understands that Brandt remains intent on staying at Borussia Dortmund to fight for his place.

Meanwhile, football.london understands that the reports claiming Norwich want £40m for Emi Buendia are slightly over the top, but it is still highly probable that the Canaries will demand a sizeable fee for one of their prized assets.

Now midway through the transfer window and Arteta, as well as technical director Edu are already fulfilling their promise to trim the squad.

Sead Kolasinac's return to Schalke was officially completed on the first Monday of the new year, as was William Saliba's loan move to Ligue 1 outfit Nice and Matt Macey joined Hibernian last week.

Arteta also revealed that Arsenal are successful in getting some of their unwanted players out of the club, then they will look to strengthen by adding some new faces to the squad.
