Arsenal continue to be linked with midfield reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window.
football.london understands Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Emi Buendia but have yet to make a formal offer for the Norwich midfielder who could be the creative spark the club needs.
Meanwhile, interest in Borussia Dortmund's Julian Brandt is genuine and Arsenal are sounding out the possibility of getting a permanent deal done this month, with the Bundesliga giants setting a €25million (£22m) price tag for the 24-year-old who would be willing to join the Gunners this month
And in a potential boost for the Gunners, Dortmund chief Michael Zorc hasn't ruled out the option of a January transfer window.
If Brandt was to join the Gunners, supporters will be looking forward to seeing the Germany international holding the Arsenal shirt at his unveiling - but what squad number could the attacking midfielder take at the Emirates Stadium?
Well, it would appear that Brandt has one favoured option.
Despite wearing no.19 at Dortmund, for the national team he wears no.10 and believes that particular number suits him.
"The number 10 has great importance in football, and also in the national team. I will try to grow with the task and give my best," Brandt has previously said.
"I had very little to say about it. I was asked and accepted it. It's a very honorable task, but I have broad shoulders, and I think it suits me."
At Arsenal, the incumbent no. 10 is none other than Mesut Ozil and Brandt has already taken over the midfielder's shirt number for the national team, so could he do the same at club level.
The 32-year-old has not been named in the Gunners' Premier League or Europa League squads this season and looks certain to leave at some point in 2021 with his contract expiring in the summer.
This means Brandt could receive his dream number if he was to join Arsenal, but only once Ozil's exit from the Emirates Stadium is confirmed.
With that said, what other squad numbers would be available to the 24-year-old if he does sign for the Gunners in the January transfer window
Below, we take a look to see what numbers are currently free at Arsenal.
No.11
The no.11 is currently vacant following Lucas Torreira's move to Spain in the summer, although there's talk of his Atletico Madrid loan deal being cancelled.
No.26
Emiliano Martinez's £20m move to Aston Villa in the summer means he has vacated the no.26 shirt.
No.27
No.27 is currently free after Konstantinos Mavropanos joined Stuttgart on loan.
No.29
Matteo Guendouzi is another Arsenal first-team player spending the season out on loan, his move to Hertha Berlin means the no.29 is available for the time being.
No.31
Sead Kolasinac's return to Schalke was offcially completed on January 4, 2021 and that means his no.31 is up for grabs.
