Julian Alvarez breaks Manchester United silence as Ralf Rangnick 'gives Edinson Cavani verdict'

Welcome to the United On My Mind daily round-up, where we look at some of the best Manchester United stories you might have missed.

River Plate striker Julian Alvarez discusses his future amid heavy links with a move to Old Trafford.

After being linked to Barcelona, Edinson Cavani's future doesn't seem as straightforward as a simple move away as Ralf Rangnick wants to keep the striker, according to reports.

And finally, Manchester United have made a 'move' for an unhappy midfielder in Italy.

Julian Alvarez speaks out

United have been linked with bringing in a striker since the future of Edinson Cavani is up in the air, and one of the names that have come to the forefront of discussion is River Plate's star striker; Julian Alvarez.

After racking up 18 goals and six assists, the young forward established himself, taking River Plate to the Primera Division last month. His performances have led to him being linked with several top European clubs, including United. The Argentinian has spoken out on his future and did not rule out a move to Old Trafford.

Speaking to reporters after River Plate's 4-0 win against Colon, Alvarez stated: "Frankly, I don't know what will happen, now I'm only thinking about celebrating. In January we will see."

Opinion: Alvarez has a huge future ahead of him, and bringing him in now still when he is developing and learning his trade, could be a perfect move for all involved. Rangnick has a player on his hands to organically grow whilst Alvarez will be learning alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo; it's a win-win.

Rangnick's Cavani 'response'

Since he arrived at Manchester United, Edinson Cavani has quickly become a cult hero at Old Trafford and has significantly impacted plenty of matches. However, Cavani has been linked with a move away from the club, with Barcelona being a club that has reportedly been very interested.

The Sun have reported that interim boss Ralf Rangnick is very keen to work with the veteran striker, and in his perspective, the striker is yet to show any signs of desperation that he wants to move away from United.

Opinion: Cavani still has plenty left to give and has had considerable impacts in several games since his arrival, but when you look at United's attacking options, to have Cavani and Ronaldo, which averages an age of 36. Perhaps some fresh legs are needed.

United give Serbian lifeline

With Paul Pogba being another player that has a somewhat unpredictable future ahead of him, combined with United's lack of defensive midfield options, the club could very well be in the transfer market for a new midfielder.

The Daily Star have reported that the club are expected to have a busy January transfer window as the new management look to put their stamp on the squad and club. The report also suggests the club could move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

It's been suggested that the player has been unhappy with his current situation in Italy and is looking for a way out, encouraging Manchester United to make a move.

Opinion: Although his potential arrival would be more likely to happen in the summer, Milinkovic-Savic is a vastly experienced midfielder who is exactly the type of player United do not have in the middle of the park.
