Julia Roberts wears bizarre coronavirus facemask as she stocks up at supermarket

Julia Roberts has been pictured covering up in a bizarre facemask as she headed to the supermarket to stock up on supplies.

The Pretty Woman actress, 52, lives in California which is under a strict lockdown amid the Covid-19 outbreak, with residents only allowed to leave their homes to get groceries or medication.

Julia covered her mouth with a mask and donned a pair of disposable gloves as she rolled the shopping trolley back to the car.

The Hollywood star sported jeans and a striped T-Shirt topped with a black bomber jacket.

She hid her face further by wearing dark sunglasses above her black and rainbow print mask.

It comes after Julia shared a make-up-free selfie from home as she self-isolates amid the lockdown.

Sharing her au naturel look to her  Instagram  account on Monday evening, the actress explained to her 8.2million followers why she was staying home.

In the picture, she donned a pretty red floral dress and a pair of brown glasses as she snapped a photo of herself in the mirror.

Julia posted the image to join in with the Instagram trend #IStayHomeFor, which celebs have been sharing to list the reasons why they have been self-isolating.

The aim of the hashtag is to encourage other people to do the same to stop the spread of the  coronavirus.

She said she was staying in for her loved ones as well as medical staff and small businesses.

"I stay home to be part of the solution. Everyone, stay home. It is the right thing to do."
