Julia Bradbury shares terrifying secret lockdown breast cancer scare after finding lump

TV presenter Julia Bradbury has told of a recent secret health scare.

Julia, who soon turns 50, says she found a lump when checking her breasts back in March.

But the stress of lockdown and looking after her three kids soon distracted her.

That was until a friend disclosed their own concerns - spurring Julia to seek medical advice.

She saw a GP, which led to a visit to a breast specialist.

"It was so scary," she told Closer, "As I was going to see the breast specialist, the feelings and thoughts were swirling.

"I kept thinking, 'I hope this is alright.' It was my first mammogram."

Fortunately, Julia was given the all clear after doctors found out the lump was benign.

"I like to think I'm mentally strong," she added, "But I had a complete wobble and couldn't stop crying - and that's fine."

She went on to urge anyone feeling emotional to allow their feelings to come forward - insisting that bottling them up is a bad idea.

Still, Julia added that she'd felt a deal of guilt over going to hospital as healthcare professionals battle on the frontline against coronavirus.

This is not uncommon, as Cancer Research UK has reported that urgent referrals have fallen by 75% amid the pandemic.

Julia shares son Zephyr, eight, and twin daughters Zena and Xanthe, five, with partner Gerard Cunningham.

It's not the first time Julia has opened up about her health.

She underwent five rounds of IVF to have her kids.

Julia told Hello! that she was reluctant to share the whole experience with her mum because she knew it would be "painful for her to see me going through it."

Meanwhile, she addressed her nickname of "The Walking Man's Crumpet" to the Mirror - a nickname she was given after her many hiking and travelling shows.

"I think it was amusing," she told, "But also very wrong."
