Chelsea's long-awaited move for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde appears to be edging closer to completion. The France international has been heavily linked with the Blues for over one year. However, a transfer is yet to materialise.
The need for centre-backs at Stamford Bridge is a high priority, given the loss of both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen as free agents. Kalidou Koulibaly has made the switch to west London from Napoli as the first addition in the defensive third, with further signings expected.
football.london understands that bids are being prepared this week for both Kounde and PSG's Presnel Kimpembe as Thomas Tuchel prepares to add two more centre-backs to his team. Before the move for Kalidou Koulibaly, Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy teased fans over the new signings at the back this season.

Speaking to the Times, he said: "We were happy with Toni [Antonio Rudiger], with [Andreas] Christensen, but I think we are more than happy with the defenders who will arrive for us." It remains to be seen whether the Blues will land their targets, but at least one signing could move closer.
That's because CBS journalist Ben Jacobs dropped a huge hint over a move for Kounde. Speaking to CFCPys, he claimed that the defender has scouted properties in London ahead of a transfer this summer.
However, he added that he and Sevilla are awaiting an offer from Barcelona, who are also interested in the 23-year-old to reinforce their backline. With the Blues losing one transfer battle to the Blaugrana, in the form of Raphinha, they will certainly be hoping they don't miss out on this one.
