Jules Kounde backed for big transfer by Sevilla teammate amid Manchester United links

Sevilla defender Diego Carlos has backed teammate Jules Kounde for a big move amid reports linking him with a move to Manchester United this summer.

MEN Sport understands United will prioritise the addition of a new central defender at the end of the season with Kounde, 22, one of those who might appeal.

Recent reports linked the French defender with a transfer in the coming months and United are one of the sides most regularly tipped to make a move.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side view Raphael Varane as the dream addition to their backline while others such as Pau Torres and Ben White are also admired by the club.

However, it could well be that Kounde becomes the most attractive addition after another impressive season with Sevilla.

The La Liga side would love to keep hold of their star defender but his close teammate Carlos wouldn't be surprised to see him leave in the near future.

“Yes, he has quality and he can play for great European clubs,” Carlos said.

“He is a young player who can still improve over time, he has got great qualities, he is very strong and I am sure he can play for a big club as a great defender.

"We have good communication on and off the pitch and we have a good relationship.

“To have a strong defence, we also need all the other players to help us and we can help them to attack, so Kounde really looks to attack too and like all the other midfielders, we all help each other and we are a good team in attack and defence.”
