JuJu Smith-Schuster’s lowkey entrance makes the biggest statement

There’s no denying Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is a flashy young man. He might be one of the best young wide receivers in the NFL but he’s still just 22 years old and at times acts just like it. But on Thursday when the team reported to training camp, Smith-Schuster made a huge statement with a very quiet entrance.

There were no helicopters, hot air balloons or anything like that for Smith-Schuster. Although he joked about skydiving into training camp, all Smith-Schuster did was quietly enter a side entrance at Saint Vincent College and go to his dorm room without any fanfare. Smith-Schuster talked about why he did it.

This way of thinking is great for the team this season. The Steelers need to get back to business and focus as much on football as possible. No one is asking Smith-Schuster to change who is is because he’s an amazing young man with a huge personality. But knowing when to make it all about football is a tremendous sign of maturity.
