Juice WRLD died due to an accidental overdose of oxycodone and codeine, according to a post mortem examination.

The death has been ruled as an accident. according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The rapper, 21, real name Jarad Anthony Higgins, died after a reported seizure on December 8 after his private plane landed at Chicago Midway International Airport, Illinois.

He was temporarily revived with the opioid antidote narcan before being taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

At the time, Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said drug-sniffing dog made a “positive alert”on luggage carts that were loaded with bags from the plane and that a search of the bags revealed bags of suspected marijuana, bottles of prescription cough syrup, firearms and metal-piercing bullets.

Mr Guglielmi said none of the dozen or so people aboard the plane admitted to carrying the drugs. But he said that detectives were conducting a forensic analysis to determine which bags belonged to which passengers.

Follow his death, a recording of the rapper appeared on the new Eminem album Music to be Murdered By on the track Godzilla.

His mother Carmella Wallace also told TMZ she hoped her son’s death raised awareness around addiction. “We hope the conversations he started in his music and his legacy will help others win their battles as that is what he wanted more than anything,” she said.
