Judy Murray admits tennis star sons mock cooking skills ahead of Masterchef stint

Judy Murray has revealed her dessert speciality is tinned pears and custard – as she’s set to appear on Celebrity MasterChef.

The mum of Grand Slam winners Andy and Jamie said cooking was “never a priority” when her boys were young as she was too busy ferrying them to tennis courts.

Judy, 60, said when she did cook it would be something quick and easy “like fish fingers or sausages”.

She added: “My kids accuse me of serving them up tinned pears and tinned custard, and I say, ‘Well, you loved tinned pears and custard, and look at the two of you now – fine strapping young men. It didn’t do you any harm, did it?’”

Judy accepted the invitation to appear on the show after becoming friendly with MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace when they were both on Strictly Come Dancing in 2014.

She said Andy, 33, and Jamie, 34, found it “hysterical” when she told them. The show was filmed earlier this year and starts on BBC1 on July 1.
