TV legend Judy Finnigan has opened up about the terrifying health scare that completely changed her life, and led to her losing two stone, most surprisingly.
Back in 2018, the 77-year-old found herself rushed to the hospital after what started as something quite ordinary ended up almost killing her. Judy had taken an ibuprofen, which caused a stomach ulcer to rupture. She described how she could have bled out in under 30 minutes if doctors hadn’t intervened just in time, reported the Express.
“I nearly died. Totally out of the blue, never experienced anything like it before, and hope to god, I never will again,” Judy shared, recalling the horrifying ordeal. It took two life-saving blood transfusions and swift action by the ambulance crew and medics at London’s Royal Free Hospital to pull her through.
After that brush with death, Judy decided it was time to make some serious lifestyle changes — and she got a helping hand from her daughter, personal trainer Chloe Madeley. With Chloe’s support, Judy began focusing on healthier eating and gentle exercise, and the results have been remarkable. She’s lost two stone and is feeling far better in herself.
According to sources speaking to Bella magazine, the lifestyle shift has made a massive difference to Judy’s overall health. Over the years, she’s faced a few health challenges, but dropping the weight has had a real positive impact.
It turns out Chloe didn’t even need to take charge as much as you’d expect. She did help craft a plan that included smaller, more frequent meals and a reduced daily calorie intake, but Judy took the reins herself. Chloe admitted she was taken aback when she came home one weekend and found her mum’s fridge stocked with things she never would have expected.
“I haven’t had anything to do with it,” Chloe admitted. “I was as surprised as anyone else when I opened the fridge on coming home on the weekend and saw superfood salads and soups. I thought, ‘what the hell is going on!’”
Gone are the days of hearty meat and potato dinners — Judy’s taste buds have taken a turn. She’s now enjoying sushi, raw fish, whole grain salads, and generally eating lighter, fresher meals. Chloe added, “Her palate has changed. She has gotten into sushi, raw fish, and whole grain salad. She has dropped the pounds naturally.”
It’s not just about weight loss, though. This is a story of someone who came face to face with a life-threatening moment, made a full recovery, and decided to take back control — not with fads or extreme diets, but by slowly changing habits and embracing a healthier approach to food and fitness.
Judy’s story is a reminder that it’s never too late to make a change, especially when it comes to your health. And sometimes, those changes come when you least expect them — like finding your mum’s fridge full of kale and quinoa.
