HYDERABAD: Days after saying that India’s vast social and geographical diversity must find its reflection at all levels of the judiciary and that it is the Constitution that guides the judges, Chief Justice of India NV Ramana on Friday said the policy of inclusivity in the Indian judiciary meant taking all communities along with them.
Addressing the state-level judicial officers’ conference-2022 here, Justice Ramana said elevating women as judges alone is not inclusivity. “We have to elevate persons from all communities as judges,” he said, adding that is what he meant by inclusivity. After inaugurating the conference along with chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the CJI said that he is aware of the pressures under which the judges function.
The CJI also assured them that he has taken up the issue of Pay Commission with the highest authorities and said some ‘good news’ is in the offing. Appreciating the CM’s initiatives to fill government jobs, he said: “At a time when employment in the public sector is shrinking, the CM sanctioned as many as 4,500 jobs in the state judiciary to work as judicial officers and staff in all the courts in the districts and also in the high court. ”
The CJI exhorted the 400 judicial officers to tread the path of justice delivery in a sensible and humane manner.
Recalling how Telangana struggled after its formation in 2014 in justice delivery system, the CM said that it was only after Justice Ramana became the CJI, the sanctioned strength of Telangana high court judges had risen from 24 to 42.
Thanking the CJI for his initiatives in filling up judicial posts, the CM said: “Not only this, the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre set up by Justice Ramana in Hyderabad will go a long way in dispelling fears among local and foreign investors over commercial disputes. ” He said the Hyderabad IAMC will drive home a sense of confidence in the minds of corporate honchos and help the state attract more investments.
Urging the judicial officers to dedicate themselves to the task of speedier resolution of disputes, the CM promised to construct residential quarters for all the judges of the high court. KCR also said that he could ensure doubling of the per capita income of Telangana people from ₹1. 24 lakh to ₹2. 78 lakh per annum.
