Judi Dench astonishes Phil and Holly as she admits she's never seen her own films

Dame Judi Dench spoke to This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield ahead of the release of her new film, Artemis Fowl.

Judi was discussing with the hosts what it's like to act in films with extensive CGI, as she has to use her imagination.

Holly asked: "Am I right in thinking this was mostly shot in green screen because of the fantastical nature of it all?"

"Filming that, how does that work as an actress, I imagine you just have to fill in the gaps with your imagination at the time?"

Judi revealed she realised months after being in costume that some of it was stuck to her ear (ITV)

"You do", replied Judi.

"When you're looking at a great big blue screen, you have to think, 'Oh that's going to be the sea rolling in over there.

"And some actors are there, and then suddenly you'll get another bit of blue screen which will be hundreds of people behind it.

"But I haven't seen it, and I am longing to see it."

Judi said she cannot bear to watch her films because she regrets her choices (ITV)

Phil replied: "Well, are you though, because you don't like watching yourself back do you?"

I don't like it at all," replied Judi.

"A lot of films I haven't seen, because I don't like it. I haven't seen Room With a View, I haven't seen a lot of films I have done.

"Because the choice on film, it's not like the theatre, you don't get another chance.

"When you see it, you think...What I should have done is this, but it's too late then."

Judi also revealed that she realised several months after filming that she still had some of her prosthetic ears stuck to her skin, which she joked did not say much about her ability to wash herself properly.

The film is directed by Kenneth Branagh, and Judi said she would do absolutely anything he asked her to, and play any part he created.

He told her he was leaving a meeting to visit her and tell her all about the new film, and without knowing what he was going to tell her, she told him to stay in the meeting and that she was on board.
