NEW YORK _ A Manhattan federal court judge has tossed former Donald Trump adviser Carter Page's defamation suit against a media company that reported on his alleged involvement in Russian election meddling.
Page, 46, sued media giant Oath Inc. in September 2017 over a Yahoo! News report claiming that American intelligence was investigating him following a July 2016 trip to Moscow.
The article also claimed intelligence officials were looking into Page for possibly meeting with top Kremlin officials, such as Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin and onetime Russian big Igor Diveykin.
While Trump's campaign distanced itself from Page after the bombshell report, the former volunteer adviser has insisted he never met with Kremlin bigs.
The financier, who represented himself in the Manhattan Federal Court lawsuit, claimed he received death threats because of the article _ which he slammed as having "exceedingly low journalistic standards."
Judge Lorna Schofield said Page's claims failed "as a matter of law."
