Judge tells man who sexually abused girl that he could be sent to prison

An Eastville man who sexually abused an under-age girl has been told he could face prison.

Christopher Manning was due to face a four-day trial at Bristol Crown Court from today (January 21, 2020).

But the 49-year-old, of Clay Bottom in Clay Hill, pleaded guilty to causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Earlier, he pleaded guilty to four counts of having sexual activity with the child, aged 15.

The inciting charge relates to Manning talking to the girl about him having sex with her.

The sexual activity charges relate to him kissing her, touching her chest and twice getting her to touch him inappropriately.

Judge Julian Lambert allowed Manning bail, pending a report for an hour-long sentence on February 24.

The judge told him: "These are serious matters involving sexual offences against a young girl.

"I can't exclude the possibility I will send you immediately to jail."

Manning declined to comment as he left court.
