Judge sanctions private investigator in Casey Anthony case

ORLANDO, Fla. _ Dominic Casey, a private investigator who leveled sensational new allegations against Casey Anthony in May, has been sanctioned by a federal judge for skipping at least three dates to sit for a deposition under oath.

And the documents where he made the scandalous allegations have all been struck from the court record or sealed, according to the docket in the case.

Dominic Casey will have to pay for Anthony's legal fees, for the time and effort involved in the three canceled depositions, Dec. 30, March 31 and May 9, according to the court record.

Dominic Casey had alleged in court filings that Anthony and her legal team talked openly of her guilt in the murder case of her daughter, Caylee, dating to 2008. He also alleged in documents filed with the court that Anthony had sex with her former attorney, Jose Baez, who has vehemently denied the allegations

The judge in the case, U.S. District Judge K. Rodney May, has also made a new order compelling Dominic Casey to sit for deposition.

Anthony's current attorney, David Shrader, had previously told the court in a response that Dominic Casey's new allegations were "irrelevant and frivolous ... immaterial, impertinent and scandalous allegations meant to be inflammatory and prejudicial to the Defendant's case and to sell Mr. Casey's book."

Anthony was acquitted of killing her daughter in 2011. Earlier this year, she filed papers with the state to establish a photography business in West Palm Beach.

The current case is grinding through Orlando bankruptcy court. The man who found Caylee Marie Anthony's body, Roy Kronk, filed a suit against Anthony, alleging that she, through her attorneys, falsely accused Kronk of killing the girl.

The civil case is unfolding as an offshoot of Casey Anthony's personal bankruptcy case, which she filed in 2013.

Dominic Casey has written two books with unsubstantiated claims about the case. Lawyers for Casey Anthony don't want him to provide testimony in the Kronk case, according to documents filed in the case.

Dominic Casey has been deposed by Kronk's attorneys; a transcript of that was filed on the court docket, where he makes sensational allegations about Casey Anthony.
