Judge Rinder heading to America to settle disputes in US version of hit show

Who’s the legal titan to unpick the US election ding-dong? All rise for Judge Rinder, obviously.

The telly favourite is set to hop across the pond and help Americans come to agreements over their disputes.

While he may want to steer clear of Donald Trump and any accusations of voting fraud – real-life barrister Robert, 42, is excited about the new challenge.

He tells Talk TV: “It is very much on the table. It’s certainly possible that, subject to Covid, I will be crossing the Atlantic. That’s very, very likely. And it’s also your exclusive for that.”

Don’t mind if I do, Rob! So will he be taking over from the legendary Judge Judy?

“No, no, no,” he says. “There’s lots of judge shows – it would be on another network. I love Judge Judy, but she is different to Judge Rinder.

“We haven’t met, but it certainly is an ambition of mine. Whether she does or she doesn’t know me, she is somebody I respect enormously. She’s the real deal.”

Donald Trump and Joe Biden have been contesting this years' tense US election (PA)

Asked whether it’s a one-off show or a series he’ll be working on, Judge Rinder remains coy, saying: “All is being negotiated now, so I can’t answer any more than that. But we shall see…”

In 2014, while he was still a practising barrister, Robert began hosting the reality courtroom series Judge Rinder, and became a household name.

He competed in 2016’s Strictly Come Dancing and is a ringer for one of this year’s celebrities – Jamie Laing, 32.

“He is truly an old-fashioned gentleman and one of the kindest people I’ve met who has a public profile,” he says.

“I was really upset he was in the bottom two last week. I actually predict he’s going to get to the final. And then at the end of it, I’m going to announce that he’s my love child.”

This week, Robert fronts a new two-part documentary tackling a subject close to his heart.

My Family, The Holocaust and Me sees him meet two British Jewish families who have been affected by the Holocaust and want to know what happened to their relatives.

It also sees him look back at his own family history.
