Judge Rinder refused coronavirus test because he wouldn't 'buy his way out of this'

Judge Rob Rinder has revealed that he refused a coronavirus test because he didn't to "buy his way out".

The 41-year-old TV star suffered a nasty bout of coronavirus last month, which he described as feeling like "being in a coma".

Appearing on Good Morning Britain today via video link, he spoke about his experience and urged everyone to be aware of their privilege amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said: "I don't make moral judgements about other people but my position is that until all other NHS and frontline workers have access to testing, I refuse to take one.

"I won't buy my way out of this. I think other people, frankly - unless you're hospitalised - have a responsibility to think about that too.

"We need to be thinking about our privilege anyway."

Judge Rinder went on to recall his symptoms, including an "appalling which immersed into a grim cough".

Health Secretary Matt Hancock recently said that the aim was to achieve 25,000 tests a day by the end of April.

Last month, Judge Rinder described his period of extended self-isolation to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

Speaking live on This Morning, he said: "To cheer the morning up, I'm just through the other side of it. It's been 20 days. And I feel well now."

He added: "My head on the bed, in a coma watching the Kardashians. So I must have been really ill."

Giggling Phillip joked: "Must have been bad!"

Judge Rinder also thanked Phillip and Holly for getting him through his illness.

He said: "As I was unwell I used to turn you on. You're like Prozac in business form."
