Judge orders teenagers to live with their mums in Bristol

Two teenagers who admitted intending to deal cannabis have both been ordered to live with their mums.

Police searched a car containing Evin Jonas and Caolan Kennedy after smelling cannabis, Bristol Crown Court heard.

Officers found quantities of the Class B drug in the vehicle, as well as cash and a cannabis grinder.

Both Jonas, 19, of Home Farm Way, Easter Compton, and Kennedy, 18, of Barrow Hill Road in Shirehampton, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply in July 2019.

Judge Julian Lambert handed Kennedy a two-year community order in which he must live with his mum and do 180 hours' unpaid work.

He handed Jonas a two-year community order in which he must also live with his mum and do 198 hours' unpaid, having been afforded less discount for a later guilty plea.

The judge told them: "You will not touch drugs again, either of you."

James Haskell, prosecuting, told the court police approached the teenagers who were in a car parked in Shirehampton.

Police found cannabis in the car and, in total, some 36g was linked to Kennedy and 139g was linked to Jonas.

Neither made any comment when interviewed, though Jonas initially accepted possessing cannabis for personal use.

The teenagers' mums told the court they were happy to have their sons living with them under a two-year community order.
