Judge challenges Black on his finances

A judge in Chicago yesterday challenged Conrad Black (aka Lord Black of Crossharbour) about his personal finances. She asked how the former controller of the company that owned the Telegraph group was able to pay $200,000 (£109,000) a month in expenses when he has no apparent regular income. Judge Amy St Eve demanded a list of Black's assets and income after prosecutors asked her either to revoke Black's bail or add to the $20m (£10.9m) that has been paid already to keep him out of prison until his trial.
