The girlfriend of a murdered fitness coach told how he had died without knowing she was expecting their second child - as police offered a £20,000 reward today.
Jude Gayle, 30, was stabbed as he returned home from a local shop with a bottle of ketchup for a family Sunday lunch two years ago in West Norwood.
Scotland Yard today released CCTV footage of Mr Gayle on the shopping trip on September 24, 2017, and offered a £20,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of his killers.
His partner Rachel Goodchild, 30, told the Standard she was robbed of telling him she was pregnant with son Juelz, now 15 months old. The couple already had a daughter, Serenity, aged four.
Ms Goodchild said: “I owe it to our children and Jude’s memory to get justice.
"Three weeks after Jude died, I found out I was pregnant with our son. I had to do the whole pregnancy, birth and caring for our daughter without him.
"It’s been really tough facing life alone.
“Every day, Serenity and I have a conversation about Jude. She asks, ‘Why did the bad men do this to Daddy? I just want him back’.”
Mr Gayle was stabbed in an alleyway in Dunelm Grove at 5.39pm.
Three men tried for his murder were acquitted at the Old Bailey in April last year.
Detective Chief Inspector Tim Wright, leading the investigation, said: “We have had a number of witnesses come forward… but we want anyone who has not already made contact with us to get in touch.”
